The Guidance document for selection and registering the Notified Bodies for providing conformity assessment services was approved by the GSO Board of Directors ( 9th meeting, Muscat, 24 May 2009).

This Guide provides for the minimum requirements used for assessing and appointing Conformity Assessment Bodies (CAB) for providing the activities required to implement the GCC Technical Regulations requirements.

It also provides explanation and clarification to CAB requiring to be notified within GCC member states in the light of GCC Technical Regulations that are implemented within member states.

It provides the process for assessing and appointing the notified CAB as well as the process for its on going assessment and its registration.

Compliance with the requirements of this Guide will be the basis for any recommendation to appoint any of the CAB that require to work as notified body.

CAB interested in being a Notified Body should submit its appointing application to the Appointing Authority in any of the GCC member states as shown in the following table.

The member state should inform GSO about any CAB that has been approved to be Notified Body. GSO shall register the appointed CAB in the General Register of Notified Body to be published on the website. The registered Notified Body will be given a Unique Identification Number to be used for its identification with the conformity marking given by the body to the product.
